Help Kidney Kids Have a Better Quality of Life

Kidney Disease is non-discriminatory, it steals the quality of life from the young and the old and is often debilitating. Some two million adult Australians have kidney disease, and many of them are not aware of it until they have lost up to 90% of their kidney function. And what is even more alarming is that kidney failure kills more Australians per year than breast cancer, road accidents or suicide.

Hello fellow lover of life,

My husband Gary, and I, are about to embark on our 8th Kidney Kar Rally, which raises much needed funds for Kidney Health Australia and their Kidney Kids initiatives.

Gary and I contribute $4,500 to this cause every year, because our daughter who was born with a kidney illness was diagnosed at the age of six months and treated, thanks to the vital research that Kidney Health Australia does in conjunction with major hospitals throughout Australia. Without Kidney Health Australia’s help, our daughter, Stephanie, would be on dialysis today and probably awaiting a kidney transplant, but instead she is a healthy, happy 18 year old who is enjoying her life.

While Stephanie’s story is one that had a happy-ending, not all children are as fortunate. In fact, Gary and I have met many families whose lives have been dramatically changed as they contend with dialysis and kidney transplants.

Can you imagine being hooked up to a blood-filtering machine five hours per day, three to four times per week, just to stay alive, and not being able take a holiday when and where you wanted?

This year, Gary and I want to raise as much money as we can for Kidney Kids, so that they can have a better quality of life, and we would like you to help us!
