We all have chakras or energy centers in our body. In Sanskrit, Chakra means a wheel or disk. Chakras are “wheels” or vortexes of swirling energy throughout our body. We have seven main Chakras: Root, Sacral, Solar Plexus, Heart, Throat, Third Eye and Crown. Today we’re looking at the Heart Chakra.
The Heart Chakra is located in the centre of the chest at the heart level, between the shoulder blades. This Chakra is our centre for unconditional love, compassion, forgiveness and is the Seat of the Soul. It is also responsible for our ties and connections to others.
When this Chakra is open and free-flowing, you emit great love for others and practice self-love. This is the place where we feel our deepest connections to self, our true essence, and people, animals and nature. When there is an imbalance in the Heart Chakra, we may experience difficult relationships, become co-dependent, not accepting of ourselves or life situation(s), lack self-disciple and feel intolerant. The Heart Chakra is represented by the colour green and the element of Air, and is also called “Anahata,” which means “unstruck” in Sanskrit.

Heart Chakra Affirmation
I am open to love. Love resides in my heart and I deeply love and accept myself. I am wanted, loved and I care for my Inner Child. I am graceful and grateful. I love the world around me. I forgive myself and others. I am open to receive love and kindness. I am grateful for the challenges that have helped me to transform and open up to unconditional love. I am connected to all other beings and feel a sense of unity with my fellow humans, animals and nature. I accept life as it is. I am peaceful. I am love.

Tips for Balancing Your Heart Chakra
- Use the colour green – Crystals, lights, clothing, furniture or accessories. Envision the colour green filling up your heart centre. Inhale, fill up with a soft green light, and as you exhale, feel yourself gently releasing negativity.
- Give. Receive. Repeat – Give unconditional love to yourself and others. Open to receiving unconditional love…from yourself and others. Practice sharing love, letting it flow freely and abundantly. Practice forgiveness.
- An attitude of gratitude – Be grateful for what you have, or don’t have, and for the life that is at your fingertips. Use your affirmations to stay grounded and centred in your heart and resist the urge to complain or find fault in life.
- Get outside – Sitting outside, feeling the beautiful breeze, and enjoying the green landscape (trees, grass, etc.) is a great way to become balanced. Take a walk, lay in the grass, hike in the woods. The choice is yours. But get out there into the fresh air and bask in nature’s beauty and healing energy.
About This 12-part Reiki Series
In this 12-part series, readers will learn about the energy of life, how it affects us, how we can utilise it in advantageous ways and ultimately, how to achieve the Ultimate Success in their very own lives: true joy, love and happiness. I will describe the Chakras (their location, connectivity and more), what energy healing is, and how the Laws of the Universe are at play at all times. Additionally, I will detail how readers can open themselves to receiving, to flow with life instead of resisting, and how we are driven by fear and love. At the end of the 12-part series, readers should have a better understanding of their bodies, themselves and how to expand and enhance their experiences.
Next month I will cover ‘The Throat Chakra’. I hope you’ll join me then 🙂
