GYROTONIC® and GYROKINESIS® Methodology: Does Breath Create Movement or Does Movement Create Breath?
Breath is ever present every moment of our lives, but do we experience breathing and how do we utilize it in movement?
Over the past 8 months, I have touched on many essential elements of these unique methods that I feel privledged to teach and introduce to you. When prospective clients call, they are often curious about the differences between GYROTONIC® and GYROKINESIS® methodologies as compared to Pilates or yoga. So what are these? Whilst there are many points of difference, I highlight that these methods are 3 dimensional, involving continuous circular spiralling motions, in contrast to linear model modalities.

In the last two articles of this series I discussed the topic of “core dynamics” with regards to the GYROTONIC® and GYROKINESIS® methods and addressed the applications to sports as well as dance. As an exercise physiologist I have many clients coming in who run or want to run to improve their fitness. Running is a great exercise option, it allows you be outside, it is low cost, can be done alone or in a group, as well as enabling you to proceed at your own pace increasing your intensity and duration as you improve.
