Around half of the world’s population are tried of waking up exhausted. Some of the most common reasons for this lack of sleep are shift work, and eating and drinking substances that stimulate the mind and body. So, it’s difficult to switch-off and unwind. Other sleep depravation instigators are stress, medication, illness or anxiety. But if you’re not getting enough sleep, then what’s this doing to your body? Let’s explore the answers now 😊

How many times have you gone to bed looking forward to a well-earned night of deep, uninterrupted sleep only to be disappointed? Instead, you toss and turn in your bed. When this happens, hope of sleep turns into frustration.
As the minutes of tossing turn into hours, desperation sets in. That 8 hours of much needed shut-eye dwindles into 7 hours, then 6 and 5. Before you know it your alarm is going off and it feels like you’ve only been asleep for minutes. The reality is you may have managed to get a few hours sleep, but it’s not deep enough for your body to recharge. So, you feel exhausted.
How does your body cope with this?

Your Brain Is Tired Of Waking Up Exhausted
You know your brain is fatigued when you find it difficult to think clearly. You may also find it hard to get your words out without tripping over your tongue. If this is occurring with regularity, then it’s time to reassess what you’re doing before you go to bed. You also might want to look at your daily habits.
Letting this problem go unchecked so it becomes more pronounced can reduce your daily productivity. You may even find that you cannot adequately manage your days. Some people even fall asleep at their desk, or worse still, while they’re driving or operating other machinery. Â
Your Stomach Is Tired Of Waking Up Exhausted
Our digestive systems needs specific hormones to keep functioning well. Getting a good night’s sleep is part of that. When we are sleep-deprived, our bodies release higher levels of insulin. This situation can then play havoc with your weight.

Your Heart Is Tired Of Waking Up Exhausted
Long-term sleep deprivation can have serious and even fatal consequences for your heart. Heart disease, heart failure, hypertension, irregular pulse, and stroke are all more prevalent in persons who are chronically sleep-deprived.
Your Skin Is Tired Of Waking Up Exhausted
You are much more likely to have puffy eyes, dark circles, dry skin, and other complaints if you aren’t sleeping enough to let your skin repair. Much of the hard work our body does is at night as we sleep.
